March 2025
Daily life, coming events, work life, and WIP's (works in progress)
Tomorrow, Sunday March 2nd, is SWFL Con, back in its rightful location at the Hilton on Bell Tower Dr. in Ft. Meyers. This is a fun, one-day show from 10-5.
They have some cool celebrities and awesome vendors. And it is family friendly with a cosplay contest as well.
In an attempt to ever expand the cult, I am doing a market in Ocala. First time I'm doing this market, though it's not their first market. I've heard good things and I've set up at the location they'll be using, so I know the spot is good.
Downtown Ocala is a pretty neighborhood, so come on down there if you're close by or want to road trip for the day.
Daily Life and Other Musings
While things are exciting in my daily life, I can't complain. I recently was
privy to some drama that went down in the Chicago film community I used to be a part of. While I do not know the individual that was the apparent root of the problem, nor the guy who called him out, I spoke with people I know who are being labeled as potential victims and they say it's all b.s. That vagueness aside, it all makes me really glad I surround myself with people who are understanding and listen to multiple views before making a hard stance on anything.
On a sad note of reality, our cats (both littermates) are starting to show their ages. 14 isn't too old for cats but Maine Coons are larger cats, and it saddens me greatly to see the slow decline start. Here's hoping it is just a bug or fluke (not the worm). My cats are absolutely two of my best friends, as it should since they only have each other and me and Kris (my wife). Seeing them age quicker than we do is a hard pill to swallow. Sorry this paragraph is sad. I shall end my thoughts on it for the moment.
We are remodeling one of our bathrooms, which is ever so fun. We are big DYIers, so ripping out tile was a scary process. But it's down. Now comes the waiting while the dust settles and walls dry out. Yeah, it was not an optional remodel. But we found some wonderful inserts online. That said, never remodel with tile. Once you rip some out, you'll understand why.
Lately, our cats (this is more upbeat) have been demanding we put on records for them to listen to. Yes, vinyl records. It's kinda cool to see what music they like and what music they don't. Barney loves Nora Jones, Simon & Garfunkel, Beethoven, and Bach. Anyanka loves Mahler and anything with strings. They do not like brass instruments. We researched it because we thought we were nuts, but cats can hear undertones on brass instruments that humans cannot. They find those tones less than pleasing. So, I thought I would pass on that strange fun fact to you. But in our search to broaden our cats' musical tastes, I did something I never thought I would do in my life. I put a Neil Diamond album on. I am not a hater of the Diamond. Just never thought that would be my choice. Life's funny like that.
Work Life & WIPs
Because of my ever-lasting love for Buffy and appreciation for Spike, I added a new design to my collection.
I had a meeting with my publisher, and we are trying to get the next manuscript in by the end of May. So, I have my work cut out for me. But World Whore, D, my first full-length standalone novel is next on the docket for now. Then I get to dive back into Fairlane.
The last thing I've been thinking about is starting up a Patreon but having never done one before, I am not sure if that is still viable for what I do. But that is simmering on the back burner of my mind.
Last but not least, if you want to follow me on the social medias, here's the link to my LinkTree. It has all my socials and Spotify playlists from my books. Many, many ways to stalk me or tell people about me and share the love.
Until next month, stay awesome and keep reading.
